This project is over. Thank you for your help.
This extension was part of a project in which readers helped reporters and editors at The New York Times to understand political ad targeting during the 2016 presidential campaign by using the political ad tracker tool to send us political ads.
This extension showed a button above every ad and sponsored post you see on Facebook. If you see a political ad, click the button and the extension will send an image of the ad to The New York Times, where it will help reporters and editors understand how campaigns are attempting to reach voters online. The images are sent anonymously, unless you opt to include your e-mail address in the app's settings.
By submitting content through this tool, you consent to allow The New York Times to use that material for journalistic purposes.
The extension only collects the information you send us. We gather the details about each ad you send from the ad itself and from ad-related web requests.
Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have questions. Thank you for participating.
